Barclay the American Curl often transforms himself into the ultimate fashion accessory at his home in Texas.
“Barclay rides on my shoulders, draped around my neck like a mink stole, back legs and front legs each straddling a shoulder,” says Karen O’Brien, a retired breeder and former secretary of the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) American Curl Breed Council.
O’Brien credits Barclay’s affectionate mode of transportation to the American Curl’s personality.
“They are the ‘everywhere doing everything’ breed of cat,” she says. “They must be helping you with whatever you are doing at home.”
The American Curl can thank the breed’s foundation cat for its endearing personality as well as its distinctive looks, says Caroline Scott, a New York breeder and current CFA American Curl Breed Council secretary.
