Have you ever wondered how cat food manufacturers come up with the “recipes” for the products they sell? • “It’s all based on solid research,” says Robert Vetere, president of the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association. Most pet food companies have nutritionists on staff, who help develop new products and test and fine-tune existing ones. Additionally, many veterinary colleges have faculty members who conduct nutrition research, and their findings get incorporated into pet diets as well.
