The Amur leopard is one of the two most endangered large cat subspecies in the world (along with the Chinese tiger). There are fewer than 35 of these cats living in the wild, and they are listed as critically endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, a comprehensive database that assesses the status of species on a global scale to estimate their threat of extinction and promote their conservation.
