A safe place to land: Street cats find refuge at Crash's Landing.

By Janet Vormittag

When a good Samaritan brought an injured kitten to veterinarian Jennifer Petrovich, he set off a chain reaction that has helped hundreds of cats.

The 8-week-old kitten had three fractured legs, a shattered foot and a broken tail that had to be amputated. "I didn't think he would make it," Petrovich recalls. But the kitten, all 2 pounds of him, was a survivor. Petrovich named him Crash - he had crash-landed with no place to go.

Declawing is wrong..and Dr. Jen is wrong for doing it. She is not even giving the cats a chance to see if it will scratch! NONE of my cats scratch my furniture. I would not use her as a vet. She should be ashamed of herself. Declawing is painful. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!! It is against the law in some places. Hmmm..I wonder why??

I have to respond to the negative comments. I have known Dr Jen for over 13 years. I trust and respect her completely. She has a heart of gold and cares for each and every animal she touches. While the decision to declaw or not declaw may be controversal, the cats at Crash's are happy and healthy -- not to mention off the streets. I am happy to say that I am part of Crash's Landing and the cats we care for!

I live near this shelter and I know they declaw their cats. I dont believe in it so I went somewhere else for my cats. I feel sorry for the cats. Let the person who adopts them decide if they want to declaw. It should not be up to the shelter.

Why would you feature a shelter that declaws their cats?? Sad...you cant find a shelter that does not practice this horrible act that is more deserving of the spotlight? This vet should be ashamed.
