HEIMLICH MANEUVER: THE KITTY METHOD

Knowing the facts about choking and when to intervene could save your cat’s life.

Choking can strike anyone — male or female, feline or canine, infant or adult. Although the procedures for helping a choking human are fairly straightforward, the same does not apply for animals.

Methods do exist to help your feline friend when choking. In fact, they are quite similar to those used when assisting a choking person, and could save your cat’s life. It is important to be aware of hazards that might cause your cat to choke and have the skills to help your cat if the need arises. Follow these steps, if your cat appears to be choking:

Please post an instructional video of performing the Heimlich Maneuver on a cat. Just reading it, it sounds pretty scary.
