Tips to keep your cat safe and comfortable during travel

Whether you’re moving to a new city or taking an extended vacation, a time might arise when you and your cat must travel together. Traveling today can be stressful and tiring for humans, but for your cat, it can be a very frightening experience. Whether you’re going by car or plane, bus or train, we’ve rounded up some of the best advice to help keep your cat happy and safe during travel.

Hit the Road
Because it’s the most common form of transportation, most owners expect car trips with their cats to be a breeze, but the truth is that even car travel can be a stressful experience for your pet. If you’ve never taken your cat in the car for an extended period of time, a trial run can gauge how your pet will react, says Allison Rogers, DVM, owner of A Cat Clinic, Inc., in northeast Florida. It’s a great way to test the waters before setting out on a longer trip.
