Cats can get upset when their favorite people are away.

September is back-to-school month, and in many households, off-to-college month, too. That leaves parents with empty nests and the family pet wondering what’s going on.
There’s no question that cats don’t like it when their people leave; it changes the household’s dynamic and routine. Our cat Fudge mopes when my husband is away. She misses their daily special routine: He spreads his work papers on the kitchen counter and she scatters them. He grumbles, but secretly loves the attention she gives him.
