We all know there are dog people and there are cat people. But within each pet faction, I believe there's a further split: people who can't resist cute kittens and those who enjoy the company of more refined, older felines.
When I think "kitten" I think chaos, and my mind instantly flashes back to when my cat Fudge was about 10 weeks old. She climbed to the top of a very tall and spindly tree and sat there mewing pitifully to be helped down.
We were having a party. There must have been 40 people poolside when my son, who had been sitting in an inflatable boat rowing in the pool, suddenly flipped over into the water with the boat on top of him. Fudge, obviously spooked by the commotion that followed, fled up the tree, while my husband jumped into the water — Rolex and all — to retrieve our son. As soon as the pool drama subsided, 40 suggestions were proffered on how to get Fudge down.
