Cat Health Tips

Emphasize Nutrition:
The key to proper nutrition is delivering the right balance of quality nutrients.
Look for antioxidants, as they are key nutrients to promoting a strong immune system.

Regular Veterinary Checkups:
Cats are masters of hiding illnesses. Common signs that your cat is not feeling well include: being less active, stays in hiding place longer, stops grooming,  changes in litter box habits or has general mobility issues.

Promote Exercise and a Healthy Weight:
Cats are naturally curious, so providing a stimulating environment with a variety of toys is important.
Try to spend at least 10 minutes a day playing with your cat.

Proper Skin and Coat Care:
A shiny coat is one of the best signs that your cat is in good health. Excessive shedding may be a sign of poor nutrition.
Brushing your cat helps decrease shedding and hairballs. Its also a good time to check for irritated skin, lumps, fleas and ticks.

Proper Oral Care:
Flip the lip! Check your cats mouth for reddened, swollen gums, bleeding or bad breath. Contact your veterinarian if there are any problems.
Look for the Veterinary Oral Health Council Seal when choosing an oral care pet food.

HILLS HERITAGE
Inspired by Love. Driven by Innovation.

It all started in 1939 when Dr. Mark Morris was challenged to develop a special food for a guide dog named Buddy, who suffered from kidney failure. He believed that certain conditions would be managed through precisely balanced nutrition. This idea led Dr. Morris to develop the first Prescription Diet® pet food that would help dogs with kidney disease. Buddy thrived. Dr. Morris son, also a veterinarian, then developed a line of premium food that would be known as Hills® Science Diet®.

Hills never wavered from that challenge. Today, Hills® Science Diet® pet-foods are precisely formulated to nurture and nourish your pet to keep it the healthiest it can be.

I read Garrison Allen books because of Cat Fancy article Cover Cats. he supposedly wrote about an Abyssinian cat. Big Mike is just a cat. Abby's are not grey with black stripes, however I have enjoyed the books. That was in the August issue.
