The premier issue of Cats USA was published in 1994, which makes the 2008 edition our 15th issue! The magazine sure has changed over the years. Check out “Cats USA Through the Years” on page 86 to see the different covers from 1994 through today.

Of course, some things have remained the same. Cats USA the Complete Guide to Purebred Cats — has always aimed to share the beauty and joy of purebred cats, and this issue is no different. New to the world of purebreds? Read “Meet 15 Fabulous Felines” on page 8 to get up close and personal with a selection of these gorgeous cats. Maybe you already have a favorite breed (or two). Many cat lovers find they want to give back to the cat fancy. Some caring people choose to volunteer with purebred cat rescue organizations to help cats in need. For more information about this rewarding activity, see “Volunteers Needed” on page 98.

Whether you’re a new cat owner or have owned cats for years, staying informed about your cat’s health is one of the most important things you can do for your feline friend. In years past, feline healthcare consisted of little more than a yearly checkup and shots. Today, myriad care options give your cat the best chance at a long and healthy life. For instance, did you know you should be brushing your cat’s teeth? “Dental Care for Cats” on page 46 explains the benefits of brushing, and gives tips on how to get started. Alternative medicine is another option that’s becoming more mainstream. To learn more about holistic healthcare, see “Heal Your Cat, Naturally” on page 54.

Don’t forget to take a look at the winners of the 2007 Cats USA Photo Contest on page 78—this year’s photos are too cute for words. In fact, those adorable pictures might inspire you to take out the camera, capture your own feline diva on film and enter it in next year’s contest (more details on page 85).

When my cats have their b-day, I spend extra time with them . It's their day. On Flower b-day I brushed her for two hours. She loves her brush, along with Bambi and Lady
