How to Provide Your Pet Retirement Plan

The Humane Society of the United States invites pet owners to attend a Sept. 28 seminar about providing for your pet in retirement.

Jeannie Seely will offer pet retirement plan tips to pet owners Sept. 28 in Nashville, Tenn.Join financial advisors and pet lovers in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 28 to learn how to provide for yourself and your pets in retirement. Attendees will receive a free kit on providing for pets in estate plans that includes fact sheets, sample language for a will, wallet alert cards, emergency decals for windows and doors and caregiver information forms.

Speakers for the event include Rob Blizard, HSUS director of donor outreach, and Cindy Martin, financial advisor for Smith Barney. Martin will offer practical investment and financial tips for people entering retirement or planning for it, while Blizard will share ways that pet owners can provide pet retirement plans.

The special guest speaker for the event is Grammy Award winner Jeannie Seely, a frequent performer at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. Seely, an animal advocate on and off the stage, will offer additional input on how to make sure your companion animals receive proper care if you should die before them.

“I like to encourage people to take better care of animals, and I take every opportunity I can to raise other people’s awareness,” Seely says.
