ASPCA Hosts Vaccination Clinics

The low-cost clinics will take place in Brooklyn, Oct. 7 and Queens, Nov. 4.

Make sure your cat is up-to-date on her vaccinations at ASPCA’s low-cost clinic.Cat and dog owners can have their spayed and neutered pets vaccinated for a discounted price at the ASPCA’s low-cost vaccination clinics Oct. 7 in Brooklyn, New York, and Nov. 4 in Queens. Low-income residents with pets might receive some vaccinations for free.

The Brooklyn clinic will take place at Coney Island on W. 30th St. between Surf and Mermaid Aves. The Queens clinic will be located at Queensbridge Public Housing on Vernon Blvd., between 40th and 41st Aves. Both clinics will start at 10 a.m.

ASPCA staff will examine and vaccinate cats and dogs ages 3 months and older, provided that the owners bring proof that the animals have been spayed or neutered. Vaccinations and treatments available are as follows:

 Cats: Rabies vaccine (free with proof of public assistance, $10 without proof); Feline panleukopenia; rhinotracheitis and calicivirus vaccine (free with proof of public assistance, $10 without proof); flea medication ($7 per dose); Feline Leukemia/FIV combination tests ($15 per test, be prepared to wait half an hour for results).

 Dogs: Rabies vaccine (free with proof of public assistance, $10 without proof); Canine distemper; hepatitis; parainfluenza and parvovirus vaccines (free with proof of public assistance, $10 without proof); flea medication ($8 per dose); heartworm tests ($10 per test, be prepared to wait half an hour for results).
