Animal Ceremony

Blessing of the Animals

On Oct. 4, the Denver Dumb Friends League will host a brief ceremony in observance of the traditional feast day of St. Francis of Assisi.

St. Francis of Assisi was the patron saint of animals.St. Francis of Assisi was the patron saint of animals and the environment. In observance of the traditional feast day of this beloved saint, the Denver Dumb Friends League will hold a blessing ceremony Oct. 4 in the Sheilagh R. Malo Pet Memorial Garden, on the east end of the shelter’s property. Rev. Dr. John D. Bell will conduct the brief ceremony and pet blessing.

Animal lovers and pet owners are invited to bring their pets and participate in the ceremony. The shelter asks that all dogs be leashed, and that cats and other small pets be kept inside carriers. Admission is free but the shelter requests that you call ahead to let them know you will be attending. To R.S.V.P. or learn more about the event, call the Denver Dumb Friends League at (303) 696-4941, or visit the shelter’s website.

I think its wonderful. After all our pets are just as important as our family. They deserve a blessing just as any one else does. Keep up the good work.
