Become a new client at the Humane Society of Utah’s (HSU) animal clinic in the month of September, and you could receive one of 50 free microchips for your pet cat. The HSU is offering the free chips to the first 50 new clients who purchase a complete dog or cat vaccination package. The offer is available only to people who have never used the shelter’s clinic services before, and is limited to two microchips per household.
Previous and current clients will also receive a discount on microchip implantations. The shelter will offer the chip — a $25 value — for $15 through the end of September.
“It’s impossible to overestimate the importance of microchip IDs in keeping pets and their people together,” says HSU clinic director Pauline Edwards. “A chip is one of the first things a conscientious pet owner should consider.”
