Meow Mix needs contestants for its new Think Like a Cat game show, scheduled to air on the Game Show Network in November 2008. Auditions for the show started this month in Chicago and New York, and more auditions will be held in cities across the country. Eight finalists will be flown to Los Angeles to tape a 30-minute program.

The next audition will be held in Tampa, Fla., June 28-29 at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. Other auditions are scheduled as follows:

  • Dallas, Texas, July 5-6. Hotel Palomar
  • Denver, Colo., July 12-13. JW Marriott Denver at Cherry Creek
  • Portland, Ore., July 19-20. Red Lion Hotel Portland, Convention Center
  • San Francisco, Calif., July 26-27. The Prescott Hotel
  • Los Angeles, Calif., August 2-3. The Music Box at Fonda

At the audition, cat-testants will go through three phases of judging. In the first phase, cat owners will take a written test to gauge their general cat knowledge. The second phase will help determine the cat owner’s presence in front of a television camera, while the third phase will have the contestant talk about his or her relationship with the cat.

When it airs in November, the game show will feature cat owners and their pets, with the human/feline teams competing to show how well the cat owners can think like a cat.

Sounds like a fun show. Not for me or my kitties, but we will have to check it out.

My cat and I auditioned for this. What I didn't know was that they are really looking for cats that can do tricks and meow a lot (those were two of the questions they asked me). Oh well...my cat is GREAT but doesn't do any special tricks!

It would be nice if the game show included volunteers from various shelters. I think it would be a perfect opportunity to show the bond and love that develops between the volunteers and the cats( and vice versa). The volunteers and cats/kittens will always remain close. The cats first gain their trust and love of humans through each and every shelter volunteer.
