Best Friends Animal Society invites pet lovers to sponsor an animal at the sanctuary for a chance to win a starring role for their pet in an upcoming book. Each person who sponsors an adoptable pet for $25 will be entered to win the contest.
One winner randomly will be chosen from all the sponsorships completed from Aug. 4 to Dec. 31. The lucky winner will have the pet of their choice (cat, dog, rabbit — the choice is theirs) featured in the upcoming seriocomic novel “Red Hot,” written by Devin O’Branagan, an author and real estate executive from Colorado.
“Red Hot” is the sequel to “Red Hot Property,” a fictional account of life in the real estate world. The novel features realtors Molly O’Malley and Valentino DeMitri and DeMitri’s dog, Talisman. The new pet character may become Talisman’s friend — or foe, O’Branagan said.
“It really depends on the animal who wins,” she explained. “I will learn all I can about the animal’s personality and incorporate it into the new character.”
To enter the contest, visit the Best Friends website, take a look at the animals available for sponsorship and sponsor an animal for at least $25. Each time you sponsor an animal, you will receive an e-mail that you will then forward to a special e-mail address. The winner will be selected randomly by an independent third party on December 31.
