Dogs and cats can make nice with each other, suggests a new study — so long as the cat is in the home first and introductions are made at a young age, Discovery Channel reports.

As if the Palm Springs International Film Festival offices weren’t busy enough, now they’ve got kittens. With less than a week to go until ShortFest — the largest short film festival in North America — the offices were humming loud enough they almost didn’t hear the mews. Director of Development Harriet Baron was the first to notice meowing in the ceiling this past week, The Desert Sun (Palm Springs, Calif.) reports.

Cats, Dogs, Chickens Killed by House Fire Near Rochester
Authorities say a house fire south of Rochester, N.Y., killed 41 animals, though two people living there were treated for smoke inhalation. The Friday night fire in Henrietta killed six birds, 13 chickens, two dogs and 20 cats, The Associated Press reports.
