Deaths of 5 Cats in Neighborhood Probed
Sonoma County animal control officers are investigating the deaths of five cats early this week from one west Santa Rosa neighborhood, including whether the pets were purposely poisoned. County officers will test the felines to determine their cause of death, and the owners said officers took a partially eaten can of tuna found on the property of one of the victims for testing, The (Santa Rosa, Calif.) Press Democrat reports.

Wanted: Animal Shelter Director
For the first time, Indianapolis soon may hire an animal welfare professional to manage its shelter for homeless dogs and cats. Up until now, the job has been a political appointment. The need for a new administrator follows the resignation of Steve Talley. The former City-County Council president ran the shelter since June 2007. His exit comes a day after an independent investigation questioned his leadership and found the shelter’s care substandard, The Indianapolis Star reports.
