Cat Crisis in Orange County Animal Shelters
It started with a trickle. Home foreclosures and evictions forced heartbroken pet owners to relinquish their animals to the Irvine Animal Care Center, and the cats began to multiply. Now it’s a flood, with more than 260 cats available for adoption and nearly 100 dogs, about double the usual number, the Orange County (Calif.) Register reports.

Collier Domestic Animal Services to Charge Fee to Surrender Pets
Starting Oct. 1, surrendering a pet to Collier County Domestic Animal Services will come with a fee attached. Domestic Animal Services will refuse to accept pets when owners are unable to pay the surrender fee, the Naples (Fla.) Daily News reports.
