To reward the shelters and rescue groups that care for homeless cats and dogs, Care2.com and Adopt-A-Pet.com are sponsoring America’s Favorite Animal Shelter contest. Animal lovers can vote through Nov. 1 for a favorite local shelter or rescue group that is registered with Adopt-A-Pet.com. The top organizations will receive cash donations from Care2.com.
The shelter receiving the most votes will receive a $10,000 donation. The second-place shelter will receive $3,000, and the third-place shelter will receive $1,000. The shelters in fourth and fifth place will each receive $500.
Adopt-A-Pet.com will contribute to the prizes by donating $1,000 to a randomly selected participating shelter each week for five weeks. The pet-adoption website also will reward the 20 contest participants who recruit the most friends to vote in the contest. Those 20 people will receive a $50 gift certificate for pet products.
