A pet cat saved a family of five from a house fire Tuesday in Concord, N.C. The cat’s meows woke the family in the early morning hours, allowing them to escape the burning house, the Salisbury Post reports.

The cat escaped the fire, and the family also rescued a pet kitten from the house. Eight units from Concord Fire and Life Safety arrived at the home around 3 a.m. and had the blaze contained shortly after 4 a.m.

Concord Fire and Life Safety investigators believe the fire started near the garage and worked its way through the attic. The house was a total loss, along with two vehicles parked in the home’s garage. Firefighters were able to recover some personal items, including the wife’s wedding ring. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

I hate it when somebody calls an animal'dumb.'It sounds like this cat was right on the ball. It's too bad about their home but all life is priceless.

I have two cats. They do tricks for "kitty treats". I am very close to my 14 year old female Gray, "Sheba". Last year, I had a minor surgery and was bedridden for 4 days. Sheba did not leave my side! I am glad for those people's and pet's lives that were saved!!!
