Largest Cat Show Coming to Atlanta

CFA International Cat Show will take place Nov. 21-23.

Posted Nov. 10, 2008, 3 a.m. EST

The largest cat show in the Western Hemisphere will take place Nov. 21-23 in Atlanta, as the 2008 Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA) International Cat Show comes to the Georgia International Convention Center. More than 900 pedigreed cats from around the world will compete in several categories, including Best in Show.

The three-day event begins noon-6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21. Hours on Saturday are 9 a.m.-6 p.m., with the show floor open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday. Events include the CFA feline agility contest, which features cats navigating an obstacle course, and the breed showcase, in which a CFA judge introduces visitors to nearly 20 of the most popular pedigreed cat breeds.

“We’re extremely excited to bring this unique showcase of the world’s finest pedigreed felines to the heart of the Southeast,” said Allene Tartaglia, CFA executive director. “This is the perfect venue to give participants from around the world an opportunity to share their passion for these fantastic felines in a comfortable and easily accessible location.”

The formal judging will take place all three days of the show, with award ceremonies taking place Nov. 23. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the show. CFA expects up to 900 cats to attend the show, including beautiful examples of Persian, Siamese, Cornish Rex and other breeds.

Tickets can be purchased at the convention center, with adult admission priced at $8 and children and senior citizen admission of $6. Attendees can download a $1 discount coupon at the CFA website.
