Game-show contestant Quinn, with pet parent Ian Stich, keeps his cool at his Hollywood premiere. |
Ian Stich of Sarasota, Fla., and his Maine Coon were the main attraction at the Hollywood premiere party this week for the “Meow Mix Think Like a Cat Game Show.” The 17-pound cat named Quinn posed for pictures dressed in his burgundy tuxedo and top hat while Stich answered questions from party guests about the new show.
Stich and Quinn compete against seven other cat and owner teams on the new 30-minute show, which premieres Saturday, Nov. 15, on Game Show Network. With Chuck Woolery as host, the show’s creators described it as fun, silly and weird.
Steve Ochs, the show’s writer, said the project turned out to be a success because the staff was made up of cat lovers, including Woolery. While the filming went smoothly, there was a minor incident that involved a skittish cat who decided to hide behind the set and not go back in front of the cameras. A stuffed cat had to be used for one of the shots to fill in for the camera-shy contestant, Ochs said.
Also in attendance at the show’s premiere party at The Highlands on Hollywood Boulevard was contestant Hartford Hough of Los Angeles and his cat, Mr. Guffington, a 4-year-old, 15-pound Ragdoll. “He’s taking all this in,” Hough said as party guests stroked Mr. Guffington’s long coat.
Woolery, who reportedly arrived at the event in the orange “catmobile,” said that the show illustrates the unique bond between people and their cats. Cat owners, he said, think they know what their cat is thinking. “The show was designed to prove or disprove that,” he said.
The premiere is at 9:30 p.m. EST Nov. 15. The show will re-air at 1 a.m. EST Nov. 16; 9 p.m. EST Nov. 21; 1 a.m. EST Nov. 22; and 4:30 p.m. EST Nov. 23.
