Cat Groomer to Appear on Animal Planet

Danelle German will show her expertise with longhaired cats on upcoming ‘Cats 101.’

Posted Nov. 17, 2008, 3 a.m. EST

Danelle German has plenty of experience grooming longhaired cats. A longtime Persian owner, German once showed the breed in the Cat Fanciers’ Association, capturing the third-best cat award in 2005 before retiring from showing. Next month, she’ll share her longhaired grooming tips on Animal Planet’s new series, “Cats 101,” the Greenville (S.C.) Reporter reports.

The episode, which airs at 8 p.m. Dec. 6, follows German as she grooms and cares for her three Persian cats. She shares tips she’s learned during her 10 years of grooming longhaired (and shorthaired) cats. “It’s great to take a nappy, kinky cat and groom it to perfection so that every hair is in place, and it just glistens, it glows, it shines,” she said.

German owns a grooming business in Simpsonville, S.C., where she meets the grooming needs of about 2,000 clients. She believes her understanding of a cat’s temperament helps make her a successful groomer.

German’s expert grooming experience is what caught the attention of “Cats 101” producers, said Melissa Berry, an Animal Planet spokeswoman.

I have friends with severe cat allergies and even being around a purse with "cleaned" car hair on it causes them to have an allergic reaction. Gross anyway!!

Seems unimportant with what's happening in our society and economy.

Just read some of the comments. OMG TED! the hair you trim or brush off your ALIVE cat is saved to make something out of it. Not dead animals how gross.
