CAT FANCY Magazine Wins 21 Awards

Cat Writers’ Association honors publication at its awards banquet.

CAT FANCY magazine won 15 Certificates of Excellence, five Muse Medallions and the Pro Plan Pedigreed Cats Award at the 15th Annual Cat Writers’ Association’s Awards Banquet in Atlanta, held Nov. 22.

The Muse Medallion is the Cat Writers’ Association’s top honor. CAT FANCY won a Muse in the Monthly Magazine category; Dave Pratt’s article, “My Cat Has AIDS,” published in the October 2007 issue, won in the Health and General Care Magazine Article category; Sandy Robins’ column, “At Home With Sandy,” won in the Magazine Column category; Isabelle Francais and Olek Kuperberg tied in the single Color Photograph category for Francais’ “Siamese Kittens” photo published in the April 2008 issue and for Kuperberg’s “Singapura Up Close” photo published in the August 2007 issue.

CAT FANCY also took home 15 Certificates of Excellence in several categories, including Monthly Magazine, Health and General Care Magazine Article, Any Other Topic Magazine Article, Magazine Column, and Single Color Photograph.

In addition, Joan Miller, a Cat Fanciers’ Association all-breed judge and legislative coordinator, won the Pro Plan Pedigreed Cats Award for her article “Pedigreed Cats in Peril” published in the June 2008 issue. Arnold Plotnick, DVM, columnist and veterinary expert for CAT FANCY and CatChannel.com, won the Friskies Writer of the Year Award for his body of work.

“I’m so proud of our writers, photographers and staff for their excellent work and drive to always put out a better magazine,” said Editor Susan Logan.

CatChannel.com won three Certificates of Excellence in the Online Column category. BowTie Inc.'s other cat magazines also won awards. Maine Coons, part of the Popular Cats Series, won a Muse and a Certificate of Excellence in the Behavior and Training Magazine Article category for Sandy Robins’ “Training Day,” and a Certificate of Excellence in the Health and General Care Magazine Article category. Cats USA and Kittens USA each won Certificates of Excellence in the Behavior and Training Magazine Article category.
