John Griffin of Dunedin, Fla., credits his cat, Charley, with saving him from a house fire this week. Griffin said the cat climbed on his face and clawed at him until he got out of bed and ran out of the house, the St. Petersburg Times reports.
Griffin escaped the burning one-story house with Charley and a family dog. No one was injured.
The fast-moving fire apparently started in a shed on Griffin’s property. Flames shot as high as 45 feet during the blaze and blistered the sides of the homes on either side of Griffin’s house.
Fire investigators with the Dunedin Fire Department said the fire appears suspicious but has not been ruled arson.
