Building shelters for wild cats is just one step to help them. Hopefully the area also has a TNR program to help cut down on the number of kittens born and make the population healthier.
It's terrible that someone would resort to killing an animal to keep it off their property. I realize that irresponsible owners' pets can be a nuisance, but killing the pets is not the answer. On the flip side, people like the one who hired the trapper are just one more reason why cats need to be kept indoors.

Really interesting stories today. I have never heard of roadside pet vendors, but I am glad that it is being banned. I would guess that most people would think twice about buying from a roadside pet seller. I don't even like buying fruit from people selling on the side of the road and I can't imagine buying a pet from such a vendor.
What a wonderful young man to build those cat houses.
Lastly, those two in OK should be nailed to the cross! They admitted to doing the acts of cruelty. Does OK law also free murderers if there was no eye witness to the crime? The law enforcement officer saying that nobody saw the cats trapped so they can't press charges is ridiculous. If they admit to the crime, they should have to pay for the crime. My hearts go out to the families that lost pets.

What a wonderful way to earn the merit badge(s) required to become an Eagle Scout. Wish more Adults had this young man compassion for our less fortunare critters. In La Plata County(Durango, Colorado) people kill or try to kill cats, even family pets, like mine, and the homeowners ASSociation, La Plata County Sheriff's Department, the local media and the community as a whole simply do not care. Hince, The Fight Animal Cruelty-Boycott Durango, Colorado campaign. I also moved my family and a 5th generation business out of that mean-spirited and evil tourist trop.
