The holiday season is upon us and in the sprit of giving, PetSafe, a brand of pet-training, containment, safety and lifestyle products, is offering pet owners and pet rescues free Micro I.D. Rescue Collars.
The Micro I.D. Rescue Collar is worn like an ordinary collar but comes equipped with a flash drive that can store a pet’s information, including emergency contact numbers, veterinarian records, personality traits and pet photos. The flash drive can be plugged into a computer’s USB port to identify a lost pet. The collar also comes with a toll-free number in case the individual who finds the lost pet doesn’t have access to a computer.
PetSafe, which is based in Knoxville, Tenn., said the promotion is aimed at helping the millions of lost or injured pets found across the United States return home. The company cited statistics from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) that revealed that while a majority of rescued pets with identification are returned, 90 percent of pets without visible identification never make it home.
To receive a free collar, pet owners and pet rescues should log onto PetSafe’s website. The promotion runs until February 2009. Shipping rates apply.
