Cat Lost in Yellowstone Returned to Family

Feline survived for three months before being trapped by concerned residents.

This summer, Fluffy escaped from her family’s trailer while they were camping in the West Yellowstone area of Yellowstone National Park. Three months later, the longhaired tabby was reunited with her owners, thanks to the efforts of some West Yellowstone residents, the Associated Press reports.

Elizabeth Ayers, Fluffy’s owner, thought her cat had fallen prey to one of the many wild animals that live in the Yellowstone area. Her daughters — Tamara, Evelyn and Marisa — were sad about losing the cat and asked about her frequently.

Somehow, Fluffy managed to avoid the coyotes, foxes, owls, hawks, eagles and grizzly bears in the West Yellowstone area. She also caught the attention of residents in the Horse Butte area, who began leaving food for the cat. Noticing her harness and tag, the neighbors tried to catch her, but she avoided them, too.

Norval and Shirley Armstrong eventually borrowed a live trap, successfully capturing Fluffy on Nov. 15. They then called Ayers at her home in Texas.

Anne Kinney, another resident of Horse Butte and a retired flight attendant, volunteered to fly to Texas with Fluffy. On Nov. 18, Fluffy was reunited with her family, and Ayers repaid the residents of Horse Butte for the cat’s vet bill and airfare home.

“We were all thrilled when she got home,” Ayers said. “She’s my snuggle-bud. She loves to be held like a baby. She snuggles down and purrs.”

If the folks in Durango, Colorado(La Plata County) were as "pet friendly" as the good folks in West Yellowstone there would not be a FIGHT ANIMAL CRUELTY...BOYCOTT DURANGO, COLORADO campaign.
