Kathy Thalmann Cos, an architectural planner for Walgreens pharmacies, presented Paul Berry, the CEO Of Best Friends Animal Society, with a check for $30,171 to benefit Best Friends’ community programming initiatives. The check represented the proceeds from Walgreens’ pet photo shoot, held Sept. 25. Walgreens split the proceeds from the one-day event between Best Friends and the Delta Society.

“I’ve been a personal supporter of Best Friends for years. To be a part of something much bigger to benefit this organization is humbling and pretty inspiring,” Cos said.

The pet photo shoot was Walgreens first nationwide pet event, inviting pet owners to more than 1,000 Walgreens stores nationwide. For $5.99, pet owners received a 5-by-7-inch photo of their pet, a CD containing the digital image and a gift for dog or cat. The photo shoot raised more than $60,000 for the two charities.

Wish I would have known about this. I took my beagle to Petco to have his picture taken with Santa. All they did was have the cashier use her digital camera to take a picture (it was blurry)and print it out on a printer on a 4x6 piece of photo paper. Oh well, at least $5.00 was supposed to go to homeless pets.

I must say, this is a BIG plus for Walgreens!
