Conn. High Court Backs Vet Clinic in New Canaan
The Connecticut Supreme Court ruled in favor of veterinarians who want to set up a clinic in New Canaan. Neighbors next to the planned site of the clinic claimed the town’s zoning board was wrong to conclude that a clinic treating animals is allowed under zoning regulations. The high court ruled 3-2 Monday that a veterinary clinic constitutes a “medical, dental or similar health oriented” facility as permitted under the regulations, The Associated Press reports.

Household Items Can Be Toxic to Pets
Pet owners beware if you decide to use cocoa mulch around your yard or garden. It could kill your dog if it eats enough of it. Veterinarian Kristy McCamy with Edgewood Veterinary Clinic in Auburn, Calif., points out that the mulch contains the ingredient theobromine, which can be lethal to dogs or cats, the Auburn Journal reports.

Cats, Chihuahuas Rescued From Home
Animal shelters in Georgetown and Stanton, Del., were caring Saturday for 84 long-haired Chihuahuas and 11 cats that SPCA officers rescued from a home near Laurel. The Chihuahuas taken from the home included one that was giving birth when animal control officers entered late Friday, and another that gave birth Thursday, the Delaware News Journal reports.
