Aussie Cat Falls 34 Floors and Lands on Feet
A lucky Australian cat used up one of its lives when it survived a 34-story plunge from an apartment building window. The 7-year-old Voodoo vanished from her high-rise flat on the Gold Coast and reappeared on the ground where his fall was apparently broken by some well-placed bushes, Agence France-Presse reports.

Pet Food Bank Keeps Animal Rescues Afloat
After Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, Houston businessman John Kane, an animal lover, went to New Orleans to help rescue pets, build temporary kennels and set up living quarters for other volunteers. Credit for rescuing pets, along with a spike in donations, went to large, well-known animal welfare groups. But Kane said much of the work was done by shoestring, mom-and-pop animal rescue and foster groups, the Houston Chronicle reports.
