The Paws for Poetry contest is for children ages 7-12; poems should be accompanied by a photograph of the pet. |
Cats and dogs are the inspiration for a contest that encourages children to dedicate a poem to their favorite furry friend. Paws for Poetry challenges boys and girls ages 7-12 to get poetic for their pets.
To participate, children may submit an original poem of any length about their pet. Along with a poem, they’re asked to provide a photo of the animal. Entries must be received by March 31.
A winner will be picked in time for the 13th anniversary of National Poetry Month in April. The contest features two categories: Group One (ages 7-9) and Group Two (ages 10-12).
A grand-prize winner in each category will get a prize package worth $50. Two runners-up in each category will get a $25 gift package. Children's author and poet Darren Sardelli is the contest judge. Prizes are provided by online pet supply provider
