Pet Sitters International (PSI) urges dog and cat parents to plan ahead in case of an emergency with the unveiling of vehicle window clings. The idea is to make emergency crews aware that the injured person has pets at home in need of care, according to the group, an educational association for professional pet sitters.
The red-and-white window cling is similar to the animal rescue stickers used in homes to alert fire crews about household pets; the cling is used on car windows in case of an accident. It provides the name and telephone number of an emergency contact.
The vehicle window clings, made of vinyl, are 3 inches square and can be removed and reused.
Pet owners can receive one window cling by sending $1 and a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Pet Sitters International, 201 E. King St., King, N.C. 27021.
