A new low-cost spay/neuter clinic set to open in May plans to provide medical services to at least 5,000 Chicago cats and dogs in its first year of operation.

The BDVM Mac Lean Clinic, named after Sabrina Mac Lean and Wilton Wheeldon, longtime donors to the Tree House Humane Society, will focus its efforts on helping feral cats and the pets of low-income residents. The goal is to fill a need for services for these two groups by offering discounts.

The clinic will be open to the public on a sliding-scale fee structure based on the pet owner’s income level, and will offer subsidized rates for low-income clients and practitioners of trap-neuter-return programs.

The spay/neuter clinic will also offer low-cost services for any cat or dog. Additional medical care includes vaccinations and parasite treatments for cats and dogs.

To celebrate the opening of the clinic, which is part of the Tree House Humane Society in Chicago, an open house event is set for Saturday, April 4. Donors to the project include Petsmart Charities as well as private individuals.

Beautiful eyes on both kitties. Love the eartip...I see that as a feral's badge of courage.
