A show about all things cat and dog kicks off today in Southern California.
The 20th annual America’s Family Pet Expo in Orange County features more than 1,000 animals, including dogs, cats, birds, fish, llamas, pot-bellied pigs, goats, rats, reptiles and miniature horses. Animals are on display for public viewing, as well as on stage for shows, competitions and demonstrations.
For fans of cats, the feline highlights include cat education and pet adoption. On the entertainment stage will be “Hollywood Cats” trained performers and even cat celebrities.
Dog enthusiasts will want to check out police and search dog demonstrations, splash dog performers and skateboarding bulldogs. In addition, a Parade of Adoptable Darlings, sponsored by DOG FANCY and CAT FANCY magazines, shines the spotlight on canines dressed to impress, and ready to be adopted.
Thousands of pet products are for sale at special show prices, according to organizers. Visitors can also take advantage of advice from animal experts, learning opportunities and a petting zoo.
Show hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. The public is not allowed to bring pets to the pet expo.
