A New York City event honoring animal advocates takes place Thursday, May 7, at Tavern on the Green in Manhattan's Central Park.
The honorees at the “Gala on the Green,” hosted by Broadway star and animal advocate Bernadette Peters along with her dog Kramer and the New York-based
Bideawee animal welfare group, include the
Iams Home 4 the Holidays. This organization helped save the lives of more than 1.2 million pets this past holiday season.
The event will showcase “Pet Adoption as the Green Option” and raise funds to benefit Bideawee and its mission to promote healthy, long-term relationships between people and pets. The gala also features a cocktail hour and dinner, followed by an award presentation honoring animal advocates.
This year canine companions are invited to join their owners for the evening. Presenters of the evening include CBS "Early Show" correspondent Dr. Debbye Turner Bell, "Mike and Juliet Show" host Mike Jerrick, supermodel and animal advocate Paulina Porizkova, NBC’s "Today Show" correspondent and animal lover Jill Rappaport, and actress and animal lover Linda Dano.
The honorees of the evening are:
- Ellen Grimes, Bideawee Board Emerita.
- Missy, a therapy dog from Reading to Dogs.
- Iams Pet Food and the Iams Home 4 the Holidays Campaign.
