The International Cat Association (TICA) named Royal Canin, a pet-food manufacturing company, as its official show sponsor. The two entities announced a planned launch of a cat welfare and nutrition educational program.
TICA is the world’s largest genetic registry of pedigreed cats and one of the largest sanctioning bodies for cat shows.
The TICA Annual 2009 Cat Show will take place Sept. 5-6 in Orlando, Fla. The show, which will host hundreds of cats and kittens from around the world, is held in conjunction with the 2008-2009 Awards Banquet where the Top 25 International Winners for cats, kittens, alters, household pets and household pet kittens will be presented. The cat show will be held at the Orange County Convention Center.
Royal Canin USA has been in the field of animal health and nutrition for more than 40 years. The company collaborates with nutritionists, breeders and veterinarians from around the world on research regarding cat nutrition.
"We pride ourselves on putting knowledge and respect for the animal first," said Sharon Lund, Royal Canin breeder program manager. "TICA is also dedicated to educating communities about cats' health and welfare, and through our sponsorship of their shows we will be able to reach out to more cat owners and ensure that more cats have the right diet for a healthy life."
"TICA is pleased to have Royal Canin USA as our official sponsor, and by working together we can ensure that cats will receive the best nutrition," said Vickie Fisher, president of TICA. "Through our joint efforts, we will be able to educate cat owners and communities about proper nutrition which is important to their cat's longevity, and continued health and happiness."
