The Morris Animal Foundation will fund more than 200 new, continuing and veterinary-student scholar studies for 2009-10. All studies are available for study sponsorship. Sponsorships start at $3,000 and are critical to ensuring future research, according to the nonprofit organization. About 35 new studies are dedicated to companion animals.
Cat studies include;
- “New Radiation Therapy for Oral Cancer,” by Dr. Susan LaRue at Colorado State University
- “Comparing Drugs that Prevent Blood Clots,” by Dr. Daniel Hogan at Purdue University
- “Evaluating Beta Blockers to Treat Heart Disease,” by Dr. Teresa DeFrancesco at North Carolina State University
- “Identifying Risk Factors for Heart Disease,” by Dr. Philip Fox at Animal Medical Center
- “Determining Cause of Kidney Disease,” by Dr. Susan Bailey at Colorado State University
- “Testing a New Way to Detect Early Kidney Disease,” by Dr. Lauren Trepanier at the University of Wisconsin
