Scarlett's Magic, an F1
Savannah cat from Corona, Calif., on Monday was named the world's tallest domestic cat by The Guinness Book of World Records. The cat stands 17.1 inches "shoulder to toe." Results on a second nomination of Scarlett as the world's longest (tip of the nose to tip of the tail) domestic cat are pending.
"We are absolutely thrilled," said Kim Draper, who with husband Lee, is the show cat's owner.
Scarlett is 18 months old, with a beige coat and dramatic auburn and black spots. Savannah cats are a cross between an African Serval and a domesticated breed. According to Draper, a Savannah breeder who also owns the Savannah Cat Shoppe in Corona, Savannah cats can be walked on a leash, learn how to fetch and often enjoy playing in water.
"The Savannah is the most intelligent, loving and beautiful animal companion a family could wish for. It has changed our life," she said.
