Lucky the Cat Cashes in a Couple of Lives
The little gray kitten licking her paws in the middle of Danny and Melanie Stevenson's kitchen floor looks like she hasn't a care in the world. It's hard to believe the kitten survived being tossed from a pick-up truck as it crossed the Arthurette highway bridge and plunging about 50 feet into the river below, the Bugle-Observer (Woodstock, New Brunswick) reports.

Cat Renews Woman's Life
Lois Flanigan speaks softly to Einstein, her shy, silky black cat, letting him know that she's there to take care of him. She's been his caregiver since he was a tiny kitten — and Einstein has been hers. Einstein entered Flanigan's life shortly after multiple sclerosis took away her job and, in effect, her identity. Caring for the fragile little feline gave Flanigan renewed energy, renewed self-esteem and renewed hope, the Aberdeen (S.D.) American reports.

Group Hopes Kitten Season Will Spur Adoptions
Prospective owners who had seen the notices on store bulletin boards began arriving at the Independent Cat Society in Westville, Ind., as soon as it opened. Joe and Gerry Reed of LaPorte were beside themselves as they followed Paulette Gonzales into the gift shop, which had been converted into the "incoming building" for kitten season, the Post-Tribune reports.
