KittyKind, a no-kill feline rescue and adoption organization, will host its annual Seniors for Seniors cat adoption event Nov. 14-15 at a Petco store located at 17th Street and Broadway in New York City. The event will run 1-6 p.m. both days.
The organization will showcase a variety of older cats looking to meet their “senior” matches, with KittyKind’s adoption counselors on-hand to answer questions and facilitate good matches between the cats and potential cat parents.
KittyKind notes the numerous studies that have linked pet ownership with physical and emotional benefits for senior citizens. Improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol levels and alertness as well as lowering stress have been observed, the organization said. Emotional benefits include decreased loneliness, a sense of security and a sense of purpose and routine.
