“I Love NYC Pets” month, a pet adoption campaign run by the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, a coalition of more than 160 animal rescue groups and shelters, has begun in New York.
The alliance, whose goal is to transform New York City into a no-kill community, will hold adoption events throughout the city during February. In addition, Animal Care and Control of New York City will offer extended hours (until 7:30 p.m. daily) at its three locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island throughout the month, and will waive adoption fees for cats older than 1 year.
For those not ready to adopt, the alliance encourages New Yorkers to foster a pet, donate funds or supplies, or volunteer to help a local shelter or rescue group. For more information on volunteering, visit the website.
