Calico cat
Caitlin was abandoned in the snow with her mother and littermates; she has since found a furr-ever home.
A loving mommy cat and her litter of kittens rescued from the snowy yard of an abandoned property. A German Shepherd puppy abandoned in an empty house. A puppy sealed in a box with duct tape and left in the gutter.

These are just a few of the 1.3 million pets who were adopted during the 11th annual Iams Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption drive. Now the public is being asked to vote for the most heart-warming pet adoption story of the year.

“These stories all have happy endings but for some of them it was a long, hard battle. Some make you cry, others make you laugh,” said Mike Arms, president of Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and the creator of the Iams Home 4 the Holidays campaign. “We need help from animal lovers worldwide to select the most heart-warming and most successful pet adoption story from the past holiday season.”

The stories have been narrowed down to five. The public is asked to visit the Animal Center website,
read the stories, and click on their favorite; voting ends March 1 at noon PST. The animal shelter or rescue group that submitted the winning entry will receive a $500 donation from Helen Woodward Animal Center.

It's very nice that these animals found happy endings - but it makes me sad to read these, honestly. I keep thinking about all the animals that I knew and loved (when working at the SPCA) that never found their forever home.

how do you choose just one? I would take in all the animals if I had a big enough house.
