The latest Barkley Hotel will offer a larger aquarium, plasma TVs and webcams, so people can view their cats while they stay at the hotel.

Get the carrier ready — a new Los Angeles-area hotel will cater to cats. The Barkley Pet Hotel and Day Spa, due to open its second location September 2010 in Westlake Village, offers overnight accommodations and lots of perks to pets in need of a night away from home.

The Barkley Westlake Village welcomes both dogs and cats; dogs stay in Canine Quarters while cats dwell in Kitty City. All staff members are certified by Pet Care Services Association and they, along with the on-site veterinarians, will provide 24-hour care and attention for the hotel’s cats and dogs.

“Kitty City has tri-level cat condos that are custom made,” said Stan Slaton, managing partner of the hotel’s parent company, Beverly Hills Pet Hotels Inc. “There will be a very large tropical salt water fish tank built into the wall as well as flat screen TVs and webcams for clients to view their feline family members when they are away.”

Beverly Hills Pet Hotels Inc. formed five years ago to create care facilities for pets that are traveling or in need of boarding. Its first Barkley Hotel was near Cleveland and featured multi-level condos, private litterbox rooms and a large aquarium. The new pet hotel keeps these amenities, while adding more.

“Any time you have prior experience you can make adjustments to better serve the pets and satisfy their owners,” said Howard Perlmuter, president and CEO of Beverly Hills Pet Hotels Inc. “A few of these changes include a glassed-in cat play area, additional television monitors plus an increased number of window views into the lobby.”

Westlake Village Animal Hospital will open adjacent to the hotel and offer a range of services from basic care to surgeries to holistic treatments. Promotional literature also says the hospital will provide services at discounted prices. Its other features include pick up and delivery service and 24-hour on-call care.

Hotel rates begin at $33 per night, and guests already have begun making reservations. Visit the hotel’s website for information on how to book a room.

They'd have to give me a great group rate in order for me to house my clutter of 9 cats!
