Actress Kate Walsh, seen here with her cats Billy and Pablo, is the spokeswoman for Purina Cat Chow’s Cat Nap for the Cause campaign to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Purina Cat Chow, a brand of cat food made by Nestle Purina PetCare, has once again teamed up with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help battle breast cancer.

This year, as part of its Cat Nap for the Cause Campaign, Purina Cat Chow plans to donate $200,000 directly to the nonprofit organization, which aims to eradicate breast cancer. Also, for every consumer who pledges to take a 20-minute “cat nap” in October, Purina Cat Chow will make a $2 donation, up to $150,000, to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Cat nappers can register here starting Sept. 9.

To promote the campaign, Purina Cat Chow will launch limited-edition pink packaging at grocery, mass and pet specialty retailers nationwide in October. Products featuring pink packaging include Purina Cat Chow Complete Formula and Purina Cat Chow Indoor Formula, both available in 3.5-pound and 16-pound bags.

In addition, actress Kate Walsh, the star of ABC’s "Private Practice," has signed on as campaign spokeswoman to further promote the cause.

“As a cat lover and daughter of a courageous woman who has been a breast cancer survivor for more than 10 years, I’m thrilled to support a campaign that empowers cat lovers and breast cancer supporters to make a difference and raise funds simply by taking a cat nap this October,” Walsh said.

Purina Cat Chow began a relationship with Susan G. Komen for the Cure in 2008 to honor the role cats played during their owner’s battle with breast cancer. Since then, the brand has raised $275,000 for the organization (not including this year’s donation pledge).
