This year’s Fur Ball at the Skirball attracted stars and support for Kitten Rescue for the third year in a row. Hundreds of people attended the Sept. 11 event in Los Angeles, and thousands of dollars were raised to help fund the animal welfare group.

Jenna Fischer, of  TV show “The Office,” hosted the event for the third time. She has also helped Kitten Rescue as a volunteer and kitten foster parent for nearly 10 years.

“I really look forward coming here and talking to people about their cats,” Fischer said. Her latest efforts with the group were to foster two kittens found on the set of her show. She named them "Dunder" and "Mifflin," after the name of the company on "The Office," and they were adopted out to a woman who keeps an online photo album of the young cats. “It’s wonderful when you rescue a kitten, see it placed into a good home and can see its progress.”

Fischer said she was excited about a few new things for this year’s event. “For the first time, I could offer a set visit as an auction item, which is exciting because it’s a closed set. And I was able to get a lot of my friends involved, a lot of people from the cast.”

In addition to Fischer, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez, Ellie Kemper and Zack Woods of “The Office” cast also attended. Other celebrities included Tricia Helfer (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Dark Blue”), Katee Sackhoff (“Battlestar Galactica”), Rich Sommer (“Mad Men”), Casey Wilson and Elaine Hendrix.

“It’s a great organization,” Kemper said. "I’m glad to come support the cause and come out to support Jenna."

The live auction brought in $5,000 for “The Office” set visit and $1,000 each for voicemails auctioned off by Helfer and Sackhoff. A table reading with “The Cleveland Show” and voicemail message by Fischer also went up for auction. The silent auction garnered thousands of dollars as well, for such items as a horse painting by Sam Jones, Magic Castle passes, L.A. Lakers memorabilia and other celebrity items.
