Dog or cat owners can register their lost pet and reach out to a network of veterinary groups and shelters to search for their lost pets.
Bayer Healthcare LLC launched a virtual community of veterinary clinics, dog and cat owners and dog and cat shelters designed to share information about lost cats or dogs to help reunite them with their owners.

The “Lost Pet Alert Network” allows dog and cat owners and pet healthcare providers to register free of charge for an interactive online application that enables dog or cat owners to announce to the community that a dog or cat has been lost. Registrants can develop personalized lost cat or dog posters that can be proactively distributed through local dog or cat shelters and clinics. Registrants can also send alerts via Facebook, Twitter and directly to other dog and cat owners who have opted into the system.

Healthcare providers such as clinics and dog and cat shelters can enroll here while pet owners can register here.

Shawnee, Kan.-based Bayer will work with to proactively spread the word on the “Lost Pet Alert Network” to the more than 10,000 shelters and rescue groups in the network.

Bayer has also distributed to participating veterinary clinics a Linked for Life kit, featuring materials that educate and inform pet owners to consider a small and safe implantable microchip. In addition to the personalized lost pet brochures and posters, the kit also includes a dog model implanted with a microchip and cause awareness bracelets.
