New Cat Health Plan
Pets Best Insurance debuts feline illness insurance plan.

Pets Best Insurance launched a low-premium, illness-only cat insurance plan targeted at budget-conscious cat owners, the Boise, Idaho, company reported today.
The cat health plan does not cover accidents but does provide coverage of up to $4,000 annually and $10,000 over a cat's lifetime.
An entry-level pet insurance plan starts at under $4 a month, the company reported. A quote from the company's website for a $1,000 deductible, 70% reimbursement, illness-only policy for a 1-year-old, mixed-breed cat in California ran $2.11 a month.

According to the Pets Best website, the new plan includes coverage for:
• Cancer
• Hyperthyroidism
• Feline diabetes
• Chronic renal failure
• Acute renal failure
• Hepatic lipidosis
• Cholecystitis
• Feline asthma
• Pancreatitis
• Pneumonia
• Heart disease
• Intestinal foreign body
• Hypothyroidism
• Pyothorax
• Chylothorax
• Cat Arthritis
• Acquired cataracts
• Feline infectious peritonitis (only if vaccinated)
• Feline leukemia virus (only if vaccinated)
• Anemia and clotting disorders
• Mast cell tumors
As of Aug. 7, 2012, the plan was available in these 26 states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
