Cat Film Festival Debuts This Week

Cat videos in the categories of comedy, drama, foreign, animated and more compete at the Walker Art Center Aug. 30. See ?People?s Choice? entries below.

This Thurs., Aug. 30, the Walker Art Center presents its first ever Internet Cat Video Festival at the center's Open Field in Minneapolis. Thousands of cat video nominations have come in for select categories and several videos are up for a special “People's Choice” award.

The evening will begin with letterpress poster printing and live music. Community partners Feline Rescue, Animal Humane Society and The Wildcat Sanctuary will also have a presence at the event.

Judges will honor cat videos in the following categories: comedy, drama, foreign, animated, musical, documentary, art house and honorable mention. The festival will conclude with the announcement of the People's Choice Award for Golden Kitty. Decided by online voters, the winning video will also appear on Animal Planet during the season finale of “My Cat From Hell”on Sat., Sep. 8.
